This is so much more than I expected. From the sample chapter I thought I was in for a bit of fun and a fight or two, but by the end I was seriously wondering if they were going to survive and worried that they wouldn't. Definitely going to read the sequel.
What a book, how McKay manages to create such depth to the story is commendable. Character development is strong, but the magic comes from the humanity he gives Black throughout the story. Cliched as it is, this book has something for all, a thrilling read that incorporates all the classic elements of a timeless work.
I was looking for something to add to my reading list. I go through books like water and many leave me parched. This was not one of those. Black as Night was reminiscent of The Dresden Files and very well written for a new author. I expect his work will be on my reading list for a long time to come. Good luck and keep them coming.
With so many urban fantasy books out there, it's hard to find something interesting and a little different I was pleasantly surprised with this book and all its twists and turns. A good read.
This was a great book. It was really funny and the fantasy elements were really well crafted. I can't wait for the next one!
This book had a good sense of humour, interesting vocabulary, great characters and a good storyline. This book is as good as the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I won’t say much more as I don’t want to give away the storyline.
This book added realism to the unrealistic in a capturing way that kept me griped to the pages. You will quickly connect with the characters and feel just as involved as they are. I loved the twists and can't wait to get my hands on the next book. If you love adventure or even just reading about it you will enjoy this.
